Mike De Stefano
Mike is a co-founder and co-owner of DMS. Mike began his career over 30 years ago with a large public accounting firm and then transitioned to positions as accounting manager or controller in small, medium-size and large firms. His diverse experience solidified his enthusiasm for helping small businesses in the areas of accounting, finance and human resources. Through DMS, Mike achieved his goal of providing corporate-level experience and services at rates that a small business can readily afford.
Mike is passionate about providing practical, cost-effective solutions to business owners and takes immense personal pride in growing his clients’ success. Positively affecting the bottom-line for his customers provides challenges and personal satisfaction well beyond working for larger corporations. Mike has experience in retail, service, architectural, engineering, real estate and medical fields.
Mike is a 1980 cum laude graduate of Cleveland State University and is a lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio. He is a diehard sports enthusiast and resides with his wife Susan in Highland Heights.
Maria is the Chief Onboarding Officer at DMS and has more than 20 years of experience in general accounting. She specializes in multiple accounting packages with a strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, as evidenced by her QuickBooks ProAdvisor designation.
Her extensive experience enables her to provide a seamless transition to QuickBooks based on the client’s specific industry. Maria is also able to work with clients to enhance utilization of an existing QuickBooks installation.
Her clients include a wide range of small businesses with a focus on legal services, retail sales operations, and manufacturing companies. Her knowledge of company operations allows her to collaborate with the client’s management team on forecasting, tax planning, and asset management.
Maria earned her degree from Miami University of Ohio. Maria donates her expertise to non-profit organizations by helping with their 501( c )(3) applications. She enjoys her free time with her family in Vermilion, OH.
Sean has been in public accounting since 2010 and earned his CPA in 2011. He has a broad range of experiences including auditing, general ledger accounting, tax preparation and tax planning for closely held businesses. Sean’s industries of focus are manufacturing and real estate and he has expertise in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, inventory and being a versatile problem solver. Sean prefers to focus his efforts on helping businesses prepare for what is coming - whether it be accounting- and operations-related, tax planning, or longer term business growth or succession planning.
Outside of work Sean enjoys spending time with his family and friends, swimming, walking his dog, traveling, and riding his motorcycle. He is excited to begin his General Manager role with DMS so that he can offer his assistance to enhance DMS services, client experience, and employee culture and in doing so expand the DMS brand.
Terri is the Director of Operations at DMS with over 15 years of experience in general accounting, project accounting, forensic accounting and bookkeeping. Terri spent six years in the Manufacturing field and twelve years in the Architectural & Engineering field.
Terri brings to DMS great enthusiasm for helping companies trouble shoot problem areas and find ways to run more efficiently. Terri truly enjoys getting to know her clients and is committed to their success. Always eager to help, she is very detail oriented and highly motivated. She has advanced financial analysis skills, setup / analysis of budgets, data evaluation and system management. Terri is proficient in a variety of software accounting programs as well as Microsoft Office programs.
Terri earned her Bachelor of Science of Business Administration degree from Myers University, and resides in Lakewood with her family.
Laura is a DMS Senior Accounting Manager with over 30 years of experience in general accounting. Her expertise includes financial statement preparation, budgeting, cash forecasts, account reconciliation and analysis, payroll processing, intercompany reconciliation, sales tax, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Laura has worked in a wide range of industries which include Automotive Manufacturing, Environmental, Wind Power, Software/EDI Development and Plastics Manufacturing. She has worked for companies in both the Cleveland area and the East Bay area of California.
Laura earned her accounting degree from Cleveland State University and lives in Garfield Heights with her husband Vince and children, Andrew and Alyssa.
Lisa is a DMS Accounting Manager with 15 years of experience in accounting for small to medium-sized businesses. She has associate degrees in Business and Accounting obtained through Lorain County Community College and the University of Akron.
While working in a small public accounting firm she was exposed to a diverse clientele and became proficient in a number of different industries as well as programs such as Sage, Microsoft Office, Thomson Reuters Suite, Lacerte, and QuickBooks - as evidenced by her QuickBooks ProAdvisor designation.
Her skills include bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, payroll processing, trial balance analysis, auditing experience, small business startup, and tax preparation for individuals and businesses.
Lisa resides in Amherst and in her free time enjoys running and catching up with family and friends.
Steven Dieringer, CPA
Steven Dieringer is a DMS Accounting Manager with over 12 years of broad experience as a CPA. This experience includes ten years in public accounting and two working in the accounting/finance department of a not-for-profit organization.
Steven has worked with a variety of entities including manufacturing companies, not-for-profit organizations, service firms, and employee benefit plan providers. His experience includes financial statement preparation, budgeting, benchmarking, and implementing and improving internal control processes. He enjoys the opportunities to present financial information to his clients in order to discuss operations, find areas for improvement, and assist in meaningful decision-making.
Steven graduated with a Master’s in Accountancy from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2006 and currently resides in the West Park neighborhood of Cleveland. In his free time, he enjoys volunteering. Steven currently serves as the co-chair of the Associate Board of the Malachi House, providing him with opportunities to plan fundraisers and raise awareness in the community.
Denise has 25 years of accounting experience working with companies ranging in size from small family businesses to larger Fortune 500 companies. She has been a company Controller with experience managing accounting, human resources, administrative, and IT departments, and can assist clients with issues in many diverse business areas. Denise has experience in payroll processing and Workers Compensation, and specializes in process improvement. She has managed software integrations and has experience working with Intuit QuickBooks, Sage/MAS90, Microsoft Dynamics, and Solomon software products.
Denise enjoys spending time with her son who attends Brunswick High School and her daughter who is a student at The Ohio State University.
Marian has over 20 years of accounting experience working with various size companies in manufacturing and construction. She has a Bachelor of Arts from The Ohio State University and obtained her Post Baccalaureate Accounting Certification from the University of Southern Indiana.
She has focused on Cost Accounting and process improvement throughout her career and has been involved in multiple software conversions and implementations. She assisted in the creation of the shared services department for Accuride Corp. during their transition to Plex ERP. She has had multiple opportunities to work with all types of departments on many team projects.
Marian lives in Eaton Township and enjoys gardening and outdoor activities. She visits her grandson Aidan in Michigan whenever she gets a chance.
Robert Wallish, CPA
Bob is a DMS Financial Analyst with over 10 years of experience. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from John Carroll University. As a CPA, Bob has a wide range of experience, including an extensive background in Corporate Taxation and Financial Accounting. He has focused on financial statement preparation and review, business combinations and acquisitions and federal, state and local taxation. He is detail oriented and a problem solver who likes to work in a team setting to achieve the best results.
Bob lives in North Royalton with his wife and their son and daughter. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family and golfing with his father and brother.
Sharon is a DMS Accounting Manager who has extensive experience in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. Sharon is well versed in all accounting aspects including monthly closings, budgeting, and annual audit or review. Sharon has worked in leadership roles throughout her career that have given her an understanding on how to effectively run organizations that rely on foundation support, federal and state grants, and investor funding. Sharon’s accounting system expertise includes Great Plains, SAP, MIP, SAGE, Quickbooks Online, Quickbooks Desktop, and Peachtree accounting, and she has over 20 years of experience with human resources and payroll.
Sharon received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Akron and received her IOM Designation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Sharon enjoys spending her free time with her family and friends. She is a huge fan of Cleveland sports teams. Additionally, she is an animal lover and has a dog named Oliver, a cat named Gabriella, and a cat named Charley.
Val is the Office and Marketing Manager at DMS. Val is an experienced office administrator & marketing professional and has worked for small independent businesses, non-profit organizations, and several regional/national corporations. Her skills include Microsoft Office, database administration, event planning, business communications, WordPress, and social media.
Prior to DMS, Val worked in payroll, human resources, and financial systems implementation and management. The consistent theme through Val’s professional experience is her ability to serve the needs of the organization and its clients with an emphasis on superior customer service.
Val has a Bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College. She lives in Fairview Park with her husband Dave and enjoys spending time with their four children.
Tina is a Staff Accountant at DMS with more than 25 years of experience in general accounting and bookkeeping. Tina spent five years as a Bookkeeper in a small “mom & pop” retail establishment before becoming an Office Manager for a fabrication shop for 12 years. Tina also has bookkeeping experience in a law firm, as well as accounting experience with credit unions & payroll and A/R experience in the service industry. She is very proficient in QuickBooks and Peachtree, and has experience with PC Law. She also has several years of experience in construction billing, using AIA billing forms.
Tina earned her Associate Degree in Accounting and certificate of Proficiency in Payroll at Cuyahoga Community College in 2016.
Tina resides in North Royalton with her boyfriend Jason. Tina enjoys bowling and spending time with her adult children Mindy, Hannah and Jimmy. She is active in her Church and volunteers her time as a director for the local bowling association.
Laurie is a Staff Accountant at DMS with over 20 years of general accounting and bookkeeping experience. Most recently Laurie worked in the accounting department of a large insurance broker where she handled a variety of accounting functions and responsibilities, including helping to manage the owner’s non-insurance business through the use of QuickBooks. Laurie received her associate’s degree in accounting through Bryant & Stratton College. She lives in Sheffield Lake, has 2 grown daughters and recently became a grandmother of twins.
Linda brings to DMS over 30 years of experience in general accounting and office administration including financial statement preparation, sales analysis, accounts payable & receivable, account reconciliations and payroll. She has managed the books for a corporate headquarters with over 35 unique and diverse locations and has collaborated with senior executives to develop business plans.
Linda is a detail-oriented and conscientious self-starter who is able to strategize and prioritize effectively. She has extensive experience with QuickBooks and Excel.
Linda lives in Parma. She enjoys traveling with her husband Rick and spending time with her family.
Maggie is a Staff Accountant at DMS with more than 30 years of experience in general accounting, bookkeeping and office management. Maggie has over 20 years of experience with QuickBooks (Desktop and Online) and is well-versed in job shop management and payroll applications. Bringing “in the trenches” experience in banking, pension accounting, manufacturing and distribution, Maggie is dedicated to her clients’ success and enjoys the relationships they build together. During her down time, Maggie reads, bakes, and spoils her grandson.
Sueellen has a strong background in accounting for small to medium-sized businesses. She also has experience in IT technical support, project management, and document preparation and editing in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint presentations.
Sueellen has 15 years of accounting experience in a variety of industries using QuickBooks software. She has created accounting records for new companies, and provided forensic and cleanup services for distressed company files. Sueellen takes pride in her detail-oriented personality to provide efficient accounting services. She can provide data entry, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and all payroll services, including filing monthly, quarterly, and yearly payroll tax returns.
Sueellen also teaches QuickBooks software part time to adult students. She enjoys working with the owners and office personnel of small to medium-sized businesses to either create new or enhance current accounting practices to ensure accurate and proficient cash controls are in place.
Sueellen resides in Vermilion, OH with her husband and two children.
