Tech Recommendation: RightTool for QuickBooks Online

In this Technology Update, I wanted to share with you an Extension that we love: RightTool by Hector Garcia, CPA. This extension is an incredible add-on to QuickBooks Online and has changed the way we work here at DMS Management Solutions. We are excited to share these efficiencies with you!

Here are some of the features we love:

  • Custom Navigation Screen

In QuickBooks Online, all users are defaulted to specific navigation shortcuts. For some users, this may include features they don’t use such as Payroll or Projects. With the RightTool Extension, users can customize their shortcuts to include the navigation shortcuts that they use every day. Plus, RightTool even allows the user to name the shortcut something meaningful to them.

  • Multiple Tabs

In QuickBooks Online, everything typically takes place on one tab. If a user drills down into information on a report, the drill down page will take over the report tab. With the RightTool Extension, users can have the drill down screen pop up in a new tab – just like they used to in QuickBooks Desktop! This allows for quick toggling and saves so much time when comparing data.

  • Turning Off Transfers in Bank Feeds

In QuickBooks Online, the bank feed sometimes suggests transfers when items should really be categorized. If you’ve ever incorrectly recorded a transfer, you know what a nightmare it can be to undo! With the RightTool Extension, users can turn off the transfer suggestion. This allows for more accurate coding and less time fixing things when it comes time to reconcile.

The best part about this Extension is that you can try all these features completely free!

If you love the product and want to support the software, there is also a paid version that costs around $50/month. It includes more robust features, such as batch transactions, that can be helpful for companies with much larger transaction needs.
